Union, MO, September 25, 2021: The Franklin County Democratic Central Committee recently held its second community service project of the year. Spearheaded by committee members Elgin Wilson and Dan Kandlebinder, the FCDCC was able rally community support to provide much-needed food, litter, toys, blankets, and towels to the Franklin County Humane Society (FCHS).
In addition to promoting Democratic values, the Central Committee is committed to community service in Franklin County and surrounding areas. “We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and equity. We support efforts to make sure that our air is clean to breathe and our water is safe to drink. We strongly support our public schools and fair labor practices, and we’re committed to making a positive difference in our local communities,” noted Roberta Ross-Fisher, Central Committee Vice Chair. “Helping out the Franklin County Humane Society is one example of that commitment.”
In all, the Central Committee donated cash and supplies in excess of $700 to FCHS staff. Donations included a 40 pound bag of pellet litter, 3 bags of Purina Cat Chow, 3 bags of Purina Kitten Chow, 72 cans of Fancy Feast cat food, 32 cans of Friskies cat food, tennis balls, rawhide bones, rawhide chips, 7 fleece blankets, and various other cat and dog supplies, as well as over $300 in cash and checks from members in the community.
The FCHS is looking for people to provide foster homes for the animals. Their fostering program has grown this year, but they are still looking for volunteers that can take on the responsibility of feeding, training, and socializing the animals in the shelter. Fostering animals is one of the best ways you can support the FCHS.
Pet supplies are an ongoing need. To make a donation, please visit the FCHS Shelter Supply Wish List.
