You may recall that the Missouri House drew headlines recently and blatantly disregarded the will of Missouri voters regarding Medicaid expansion. It was then sent over to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration. Many were hoping that body would be a bit more reasonable in its thinking. Not so.
Last night, the Missouri State Senate Appropriations Committee voted NOT to fund Medicaid.
There’s a slim chance it could be brought to the Senate floor in front of the full body for consideration. It’s not likely, but it’s possible. If this doesn’t happen 275,000 of our poorest residents will not be able to receive the healthcare that Missouri voters said they deserved.
There are 34 senators. Please reach out to your friends, family members, and groups that you belong to. Take a few moments out of your day to tell our elected lawmakers that they need to respect the will of We the People. They must fully fund Medicaid.
There’s not much time left in this session. We’ve got to make every moment count. A link to the Missouri Senate Directory can be found by clicking here.
