Here’s a solid year of hard work, solving the problems of the 9th Dist. and the great state of Missouri. AAH, a good port and a fine cigar to top off a good year of sloganeering.

As a state lawmaker, it’s always gratifying to see the bills you sponsor and handle pass the legislative finish line and better the lives of your fellow Missourians. During the 2011 regular session, which ended in May, I handled a bill in the Senate (HB 307) that allows the Missouri Department of Revenue to issue special license plates for qualified vehicles, including “Don’t Tread on Me” plates for anyone who applies. Missouri offers nearly 200 different specialty license plates, and I’m proud to say the “Don’t Tread on Me” license plates are on that list and available for purchase and pickup.
These license plates are valuable for Missourians because they display a sense of state sovereignty and let others know that the people of Missouri are proud of their Tenth Amendment rights. The Tenth Amendment states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” It’s important for Missourians to know they have a voice in their government, and in our great state, that voice is respected.
